Black History Month (BHM) is a great opportunity to explore Black history, heritage, culture and achievements, and spark discussion about equality and inclusion.
The theme this year is ‘Saluting our Sisters’, celebrating the achievements of Black women throughout history.
Black history should be integrated into your curriculum all year round. To help you achieve this, review your curriculum using our guidance and tools.
Celebrate Black History Month your own way
There are lots of ways to celebrate, including holding whole-school assemblies, adapting lesson plans, and putting up posters and displays that reflect the contributions that Black people have made – and are making now – to areas such as science, politics, culture and society.
